CES 2021 confirmed as an online-only event
CES, the largest tech conference in the world, will be an “all-digital experience” for 2021, says organisers the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).
In avideo announcement, the CEO of the CTA Gary Shapiro confirmed the move that will stop the tech world descending on Las Vegas in January.
CES 2020 held this January was one of the last major conferences held physically by the tech industry. Mobile World Congress was cancelled the following month, though Berlin’s IFA is controversially going ahead in some capacity in September. Until recently, the CTAhoped CES 2021 would happen as normal.
In taking CES 2021 online, the CTA hopes it can still provide a platform for the thousands of companies that rely on CES as a place to hold important meetings and promote their products and services.
Shapiro said, “Technology helps us all work, learn and connect during the pandemic – and that innovation will also help us reimagine CES 2021 and bring together the tech community in a meaningful way. By shifting to an all-digital platform for 2021, we can deliver a unique experience that helps our exhibitors connect with existing and new audiences.”
The CTA said it plans to hold a regular physical CES 2022 event.
