Deathloop delayed to spring 2021

Deathloop, the upcoming shooter from Prey and Dishonored developer Arkane, has been delayed until 2021.

The time loop game, firstannounced by publish Bethesda at E3 last year, had previously been set for a holiday release on PC andPlayStation 5– where it’s set to be a timed console exclusive.

Developer Arkane announced the delay on Twitter, revealing that the game will now launch in Q2 2021 – i.e. some time between April and June next year. The post blamed the delay on the impact of working from home during the pandemic.

“As we’ve adjusted to work-from-home, we found that delivering this new and exciting experience, at the polish and quality level that defines both an Arkane game and a true next-gen experience, is taking longer than normal,” the company said.

“This extra time will allow our team to bring Deathloop’s world to life with as much character and fun as you’ve come to expect from our team,” Arkane added, before promising more details “coming soon.”

The last we saw of Deathloop was a trailer shown during the PS5 reveal stream, when Sony announced that the game would be a launch title for the PS5 and be a timed exclusive for that console. That deal likely still applies, meaning the game won’t arrive on theXbox Series Xuntil some time in 2022.

From what we’ve seen so far, Deathloop follows two assassins – Colt and Julianna – caught in a time loop and force to fight each other over and over again.
