Disney renames 20th Century Fox as 20th Television

Disney has renamed 20thCentury Fox TV to 20thTelevision after it acquired the TV studio in a deal last May that saw it buy the whole of 21stCentury Fox.

AsThe Vergepoints out, it takes out the ‘Fox’ part of the name in the same way 20thCentury Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures are now 20thCentury Studios and Searchlight Pictures.

The whole thing is very confusing, and it’s not clear why it’s just 20thTelevision without the ‘Century’. We guess rebranding is hard.

Disney Television Studios now comprises ABC Signature, 20thTelevision, and Touchstone Television, the latter renamed from Fox 21 Television Studios.

All you really need to know is Disney owns a lot of TV studios now and is happily distancing itself from the Fox brand. It’s likely to avoid confusion with the remaining Fox brands such as Fox News, the ever-divisive power in American current affairs reporting.
