DJI OM 4 release date, price & new features

Just a year after it launched the Osmo Mobile 3, DJI has unveiled a fourth-generation phone stabiliser, now called the OM 4.

It’s much like its predecessor, but with one major change: a magnetic mount. Instead of a fiddly spring clamp, which also means having to re-balance your phone each time, the magnet can be stuck to the back of your phone so attaching it to the OM 4 is instant.

It also has the benefit of making the gimbal a bit smaller when folded, and there are upgraded motors for heavier phones.

The package includes the gimbal, tripod, soft carry bag, USB-C cable, phone clamp, adhesive ring / magnet mount.

There’s no standard option as with the Osmo Mobile 3, so the OM 4 is most comparable with the Osmo Mobile 3 Combo kit, but is still £20 / $20 more expensive.

The OM 4 costs £139 / $149 / AU$229 and around 145-149 Euros: actual prices vary according to tax rates in EU countries.

It’s available tobuy immediately from DJIdirectly, or one of its partners such as Apple, andHeliguyin the UK andAdoramain the US.

New features

Apart from the magnetic mounting system and beefier motors which support phones up to 290g and 10mm thick, these are the other main upgrades.

In the Mimo app ActiveTrack 3.0 has been updated to better distinguish between adults, children and pets. You can also adjust framing while using ActiveTrack by using the joystick.

There’s also a new Clone Me panorama mode which lets you appear multiple times in a panoramic photo. You still have the options of 3×3 and 240-degree panoramas, too.

Spin Shot is the other new addition. It rotates your phone quickly for a modern-looking spin transition.
