Drayton’s Wiser Heat app gets a user-friendly redesign
Drayton has updated its Wiser Heat app. The app has been redesigned and its interface updated to make it simpler to navigate and use. It’s also future-proofed for use with new Wiser smart home products as they become available.
The goal is to create a sustainable, joined-up home energy management system that will grow with its users’ needs and eventually incorporate everything from solar panels to electric car charging.
The updated app can be downloaded by users right now foriPhoneorAndroid.
The redesign incorporated feedback from customers to push the most used and useful features to the front of the app and add more flexibility to some of the functionality.
For example, you can now boost your heating from the home screen by tapping an icon, rather than having to make multiple clicks to do so. The heating boost will last between 30 minutes and three hours, depending on your needs.
Users can also now view their entire smart heating system from the home screen, as well as checking the weather and outside temperature where they live, so they can easily adjust the heat if the day will be warmer or cooler than expected.
Other popular functions – including the Insights feature, which gives you feedback on how to save energy, based on your habits – are also now available from the home screen.
Users also have more options for organising things in a way that makes sense to them. Rooms can be reordered, so that the ones you use the most, or those that you want to adjust the heating in most often, come up first.
Creating and copying schedules from room to room is also easier, and you can group rooms together so that you can create a schedule for your children’s rooms, for example, or the entire upstairs.

In brief, Wiser is easy to install and straightforward to use. There are starter kits to suit every type of boiler and the Multi-Zone kits include smart TRVs (thermostatic radiator valves). These replace your standard radiator valves to allow you to control the heat in a specific room separately and remotely, via the app.
It’s also one of the best-priced systems on the market. The kits are available from Amazon (among other retailers), and start at £101.69 fora combi boiler starter kitor £109.62 fora conventional boiler starter kit. This is without professional installation. Expert installation will cost an additional £120 per unit.
Multi-zone kits, which include smart TRVs, cost £149.95 for acombi boilerand £151.06 fora conventional boiler. Bear in mind that the hardware prices are correct at the time of writing but are likely to change slightly, as Amazon prices do.
