Get a free pair of AirPods with the iPhone SE from Virgin Mobile
The iPhone SE holds a special place in the hearts of many Apple fans, offering flagship-level performance with the inclusion of the latest A13 chipset in a budget-friendly form. The new iPhone SE, which launched in April 2020, is slightly bigger than the tiny-screen 4in original, based this time on the design of the 4.7in iPhone 8, and is available for as little as £419 in the UK.
Still, despite the iPhone SE being £310 cheaper than the flagship iPhone 11 (and a whopping £730 cheaper than the ultra-premium iPhone 11 Pro Max), contracts are a smart way to get your hands on a new smartphone – especially when there’s something extra thrown in to sweeten the deal.
That’s what Virgin Mobile has done, throwing in a free pair of AirPods (worth £159) with any iPhone SE contract right now – and they start at as little as£22 per month with a 64GB iPhone, unlimited calls and texts and 1GB of data to use, jumping up to only£25 per monthif you want an increased 128GB of storage. The contracts vary from 36- to 24 months, with the latter offering cheaper monthly payments at the cost of an extended contract.
Being a Virgin Mobile contract, the company also offers data-free messaging on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Twitter, meaning you can stay in contact with friends and family even when you’ve run out of data. You’ve also got the option to upgrade early if you get bored of the iPhone SE and want something a little more exciting – we’ve got plenty of great options in our roundup of thebest smartphones of 2020.
In our review, Dominic Preston describes how the iPhone SE offers a top-tier processor and solid camera performance along with luxuries like wireless charging and waterproofing, but he wasn’t too impressed with the battery and somewhat dated design compared to Android counterparts at the same price.
Still, if you’re tied to the Apple ecosystem and want a new, cheap iPhone that’ll get you through another few years – and a new pair of AirPods to match – Virgin Mobile’s iPhone SE deal looks to be a solid option.
