Google teases ‘something special’ for Monday announcement

Google has tweeted a cryptic, silent four second teaser on its Google Nest Twitter page teasing that “Something special is coming this Monday.”

The soundless clip features comic actor Fred Armisen mouthing something while sitting in a yoga-like position. There’s no other information, and we thought the sound on our computer was broken when we first viewed it.

The clip comes after Google’s new Nest speaker leaked last week. In an attempt to control the media narrative, Google then sentan image and video trailer for the speakerto US media. The Monday announcement might be the full announcement of the Google Nest speaker, though we still don’t know what it’ll be called.

It’ll replace the now-discontinued Google Home, the smart speaker launched in 2016. Since then, Google has transitioned all of its Home products to the Nest branding.

A Monday announcement might not be the speaker, though. Given Armisen’s appearance, it might be a software feature with his voice, potentially a meditation feature given his guru-like appearance.

Take a deep breath and prepare. Something special is coming this Monday.pic.twitter.com/EV850z5bU7

Either way, Google is pretty late to a sequel to its well-received Google Home and is also stalling on the 2020 launch of itsPixel 4aandPixel 5phones.
