Government launches leadership programmes for small business
The UK government has launched two new leadership programmes and committed £20 million to improve small business management and productivity.
TheSmall Business Leadership Programmewill help decision-makers in strengthening their leadership and productivity skills to tackle any challenges that may arise.
Over the course of 10 weeks, attendees will participate in virtual classes and a series of 90-minute webinars led by business experts.
“The strength of small businesses up and down the country will be vital as we begin to bounce back from coronavirus and re-build our economy,” said small business minister, Paul Scully.
“These schemes will help equip small business leaders with the leadership, resilience and problem-solving skills they need to grow their firms in the wake of this pandemic.”
Secondly, thePeer Networks Programmewill involve guided exercises to help business owners improve their problem-solving skills.
The sessions will include common coronavirus-related challenges, such as finding new customers, to support business owners in the recovery process of building their business back up again.
“The effects of coronavirus have been particularly damaging for small businesses and providing their leaders with the experience and knowledge to survive and thrive will be essential for the future success of the country,” said Anne Kiem, OBE, CEO of Chartered Association of Business Schools and Executive Director of the Small Business Charter.
There are currently 2000 places available for the Small Business Leadership Programme and 6000 places for the Peer Networks Programme. Business owners can register online via theGov.UKwebsite.
