How to switch between Instagram accounts

Users ofInstagramcan have up to five active accounts, which means you can keep personal photos separate from your business or hobbies. Of course, to be able to use these effectively you’ll need to switch between them.  We show you how to do this, as well as the steps to take if you want to create multiple accounts.

How to set up multiple Instagram accounts

If you currently only have one account, then it only takes a couple of minutes to add another. Simply open the Instagram app, tap on the head and shoulders icon in the bottom right corner to go to your profile, then tap the three lines icon and selectSettings.

At the bottom of the next page you’ll see the option toAdd account.

Tap this and you’ll be asked to enter your username and password. As you don’t have the new account yet, tap on theSign Upoption at the bottom of the page. SelectSign up with Phone or Email, then choose theEmailtab and enter an address not already connected with your Instagram account. Next, add your new account name, create a password, choose a username, and you should be good to go.

How to switch between Instagram accounts

Once you’ve set up your extra accounts, switching between them is a doddle. First, go to your profile page then tap on the username at the top of the page. A drop-down menu will appear, in which you should see the names of all your current accounts.

Now, just tap the one you want to use and you’ll be logged in instantly, so you can post whichever images you think suits that particular instance of yourself. Just try to remember the one you’re in, so that those cosplay pictures don’t end up on the Parish Church Committee profile you run.
