How to watch In The Heights on HBO Max in the UK

At the time of writing, the only streaming service we know for certain that In The Heights is available on is HBO Max.

An account with HBO Max costs $14.99 per month, and you can subscribe over on theHBO Max website. There is a cheaper ad-supported version of the service available now for $9.99 per month, but this won’t cover new movie debuts.

This streaming service is currently exclusive to the US. However, we’ve found a way to sign up for an account right here in the UK using a VPN and a mobile device.

VPNs (virtual private networks) reroute your IP address so you can browse the internet as if you’re based in another country. In this case, you’ll want a US-based server.

For the best servers, performance and pricing, we recommend eitherNordVPNorSurfshark. For further recommendations, you can take a look at our list of thebest VPNs for HBO Max.

Billing information for HBO Max

For the next step, you’ll need the HBO Max app. We have successfully tested this method usingNordVPNand an Android phone.

Once you’ve signed up for your VPN of choice, you’ll need to download it on either your iOS or Android device. The HBO Max website currently only allows you to sign up if you have a payment card that’s tied to the US. If you don’t have that, here are the steps you should take:

There have been reports of people not being able to install HBO Max on iOS as the app store forces users to register their payment details within the app store, and doesn’t accept UK PayPal if you try to register with this account.

If this is the case when you try to sign up, we recommend purchasing US App Store credit via a digital gift card – which can be added as a US payment option.

You can buy this fromAmazon US, though there are other retailers available – you’ll need a website that allows you to pay with UK bank details. The typical minimum amount you can purchase will be $25 – enough to cover one month’s subscription of HBO Max.

If you set your email address as the recipient, the code to redeem the money will be sent to your inbox. When you come to add the payment information, select ‘redeem gift card or code’, and you should be able to add the money as credit on your account.

With this, you should then be able to sign up for an HBO Max account. After that, you should be able to alter your payment information back to your UK PayPal via the website to avoid having to pay for a new gift card every single time.

Note that this method is technically against HBO’s terms of service, so the company could cancel your account at any time. Proceed at your own risk.

Will In The Heights release on UK streaming platforms, on VOD or on DVD?

As cinemas have new reopened across the UK, In The Heights likely won’t be available to stream, rent or buy – both digitally and on DVD – for at least a few months after the initial theatrical release.

If we hear anything more about how to watch In The Heights on VOD, streaming services or elsewhere, we’ll update this article.
