Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was revealed at the end of August, and it’s due out later this autumn, but there’s still one key area that Activision is yet to discuss: the game’s multiplayer mode. Arguably the main reason to pick up a Call of Duty title, Black Ops Cold War’s success rides on its multiplayer mode, so when are we going to see it?
As confirmed in the Black Ops Cold War reveal trailer, the worldwide multiplayer reveal is due to take place on 9 September, and rumours suggest there will be an open beta before release too. Here’s all you need to know about the reveal event, including how to tune in and what to expect.

The Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal is set to be available via theCall of Duty website, along with the official Call of DutyYouTubeandTwitchchannels too.

What should I expect from the announcement?
It should come as no surprise that the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal will feature… the reveal of the multiplayer game mode. We’ve already seen a precious few seconds of gameplay courtesy of the game reveal trailer, but the next event will focus solely on the multiplayer experience of Black Ops Cold War, and it’s likely that we’ll see gameplay of it running on the next-genPS5andXbox Series Xtoo.
In terms of what to expect from the multiplayer game mode itself, Activision has kept relatively schtum, but that hasn’t stopped leaks from appearing online. One of the biggest comes from popular streamer Doug is Raw, who seemingly accidentally wentlive on Twitchwhile playing a 5v5 mode on what appears to be a new Miami multiplayer map in Black Ops Cold War, which had been rumoured previously.
The stream didn’t last long at just seven minutes, but it was a telling clip, featuring many prominent members of the Call of Duty franchise, and it also confirms that the game’s multiplayer is already available to a select few. The downside is that the footage is extremely hard to come by, with Activision hitting anybody that posts it with copyright claims, so we’ll still have to wait until the event to see the multiplayer mode in action.
Activision has also confirmed that there will be an open beta for the game’s multiplayer mode, although it has yet to announce when that’ll take place. It’s probable that we’ll get this information during the event, withleaks suggestingit’ll kick off on 8 October.
