How to watch The Matrix Resurrections in the UK
After many years of waiting, the fourth instalment in The Matrix franchise is here. Keanu Reeves is back as Neo, alongside Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity.
This cyberpunk, sci-fi epic is one of the most anticipated films of the year, but it’s also releasing during a global pandemic. Therefore, many viewers may be wondering if there’s a way to watch it from home.
Like other Warner Bros. films this year such asDune, The Matrix 4 has a dual cinema and HBO Max release in the US. If you’re in the UK and are wondering what your options are, we have everything you need to know.

When did The Matrix Resurrections release?
The Matrix Resurrections is now available to watch following a22 December 2021release.

Where to buy The Matrix Resurrections tickets
In the UK, The Matrix 4 is a cinema exclusive.You can buy tickets for The Matrix Resurrections today, and you should be able to get them directly from the likes ofVue,Odeon,Cineworld,EmpireandShowcasetoo.

How to watch The Matrix Resurrections on HBO Max in the UK
The Matrix 4 was released on HBO Max in the US on the same day it hit theatres. To watch it, you must have an ad-free account with HBO Max, which costs $14.99 per month – you can sign up over on theHBO Max website.
HBO Max is exclusive to the US. However, there is a way to watch it here in the UK: by using a mobile phone and a VPN.
Having a VPN (virtual private network) allows you to reroute your IP address so you can browse the internet as if you’re based in another country – in this case it would the US.

Once you’ve chosen your VPN, you’ll need to get over the hurdle of payment information.
Billing information for HBO Max
For the next step, you’ll need theHBO Max app. We have successfully tested this method usingNordVPNand an Android phone.
Once you’ve bought the VPN you want, you’ll need to set it up on either your iOS or Android device. The HBO Max website currently only allows you to sign up if you have a payment card that’s tied to the US. If you don’t have that, here are the steps you should take:
Sometimes, the Google Play Store does not change to the US version, even when creating a new account.
The way to get around this is by connecting to a VPN on a PC, signing into theGoogle Play Store US website, searching for the app you need and sending it to your phone (whilst still connected to the VPN). You can see an example using Peacock below:
There have been reports of users not being able to install HBO Max on iOS as the app store forces users to register their payment details and doesn’t accept UK PayPal if you try to register with this account.
To get around this, we recommend purchasing US App Store credit via a digital gift card – which can be added as a US payment option.
You can purchase this from places such asAmazon US, though there are other retailers available. You’ll need a website that allows you to pay with UK bank details. The typical minimum amount you can purchase will be $25 – enough to cover one month’s subscription to HBO Max.
When the site asks you to put in the recipient, enter your own email address and the code to redeem the money will be sent to your inbox. Then when you need to add payment information in the app store, select ‘redeem gift card or code’, and you should be able to add the money as credit on your account.
With this, you should then be able to sign up for an HBO Max account. Once your account is active, you can change your payment information back to your UK PayPal via the website to avoid having to pay for a new gift card every single time.
We’d like to stress that all of these methods are technically against HBO’s terms of service, so the company could cancel your account at any time. Proceed at your own risk.
Will The Matrix Resurrections come to UK VOD services and DVD?
The Matrix 4 will eventually come to UK streaming services and DVD, but it will be at least a few months after the initial cinematic debut. Once we know more information, we’ll update this article.
