HP laptop battery recall: How to check whether your laptop is affected
This time last year a global battery recall was underway for more than 100,000 HP laptops. Now in January 2018 it’s again recalling laptop batteries that are at risk of overheating.

If you have one of the models listed above, you should download theHP Battery Validation Utilityto see whether it is affected. The tool takes less than 30 seconds to run.
If your laptop is affected you will be prompted to download a BIOS update, which puts the laptop in Battery Safety Mode and allows you to bypass the battery and use it safely when plugged into the mains. Reboot your laptop following the update.
You will then be able to have your battery replaced by an authorised technician at no cost.
