Huawei Mate X Launch: As it Happened
Huawei has announced several new products at its press conference atMWC 2019. It used the event not for the upcoming P30 phone, but to launch its first folding phone: theMate X.
This is a device whose screen folds externally around the hinge, as opposed to internally like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold.

New MateBooks
The rest of the event was dedicated to the company’s new range of laptops, comprising the MateBook 13, MateBook 14 and updated-for-2019 MateBook X Pro.
They’re designed to mirror Apple’s MacBook range, but with Windows 10 of course, and have a few new features including Huawei Share 3.0 which uses an NFC tag and makes it simple to transfer files between compatible Huawei phones and the laptops.
We’ve compared the three models to explain their differences, and we’ve also got our hands on each one separately for a first-impressions preview. (Note that we saw the MateBook 13 at CES a month ago where it didn’t have a touchscreen.)
What about the P30?
This wasn’t announced at MWC, and that was expected since Huawei confirmed earlier this month that it would hold a separate event in Paris at the end of March dedicated to the new P30 range.
