Huawei P40 Lite 5G gets UK launch at £379

The Huawei P40 flagship smartphone range might be out of your budget, but the new P40 Lite 5G comes in at a mid-range £379.

Huawei often does Lite editions of phones, much like rivals including Samsung. Now, almost two month on from the mainP40launch event, the P40 Lite 5G is the newest member of the family.

It goes on sale 17 June but customers can pre-order the phone from 3 June and will get a free pair ofHuawei Freebuds 3wireless earbuds if they do.

As mentioned above, the price is just£379and this gets you 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. That’s £100 more than theregular P40 Lite.

You can choose from Space Silver, Crush Green, and Midnight Black colourways.

Although the name suggests this is simply a 5G of the older version, this actually comes with numerous differences and upgrades – not just the Kirin 820 5G processor which, of course, provides 5G support.

The phone still has four rear cameras, most of which are the same, but the main sensor is now 64Mp instead of 48Mp.

Huawei has put a slightly larger 6.5in display with a 1080 x 2400 resolution and added HDR10 support. It’s still a Punch FullView Display featuring 3D glass and an embedded selfie camera.

Other specs include speedy 40W charging but, like the other P40 phones, there is no Google Mobile Services support. This means no Play Store to get apps, instead users must rely on Huawei’s ownAppGallery.
