Lenovo’s new Yoga 7i lineup offers more flexibility than ever before
The Lenovo Yoga C740 was only released a few months ago, but we already have a successor in the form of the Yoga 7i.
Alongside the rebranding, the company’s new lineup of premium PCs offers greater flexibility than we’ve seen from previous generations. You can now choose from the Slim 7i (13in), Slim 7i Pro (14in) or regular 7i (14in or 15.6in), while there are now options for IntelandAMD processors for the first time.
There’s no radical design overhaul here though, with all the new Yoga devices focusing on internals. With the devices not set to arrive until October, Lenovo is promising “next-gen” Intel processors, Wi-Fi 6 and rapid charging speeds. The latter is via Power Delivery 3.0, although no specific timings have been provided.
The regular Yoga 7i comes with a Full HD (1920×1080) screen, alongside 8, 12 or 16GB of RAM and up a 1TB SSD. The Slim version bumps the screen resolution up to QHD (2560×1600), while 2880×1800 or 2240×1400 are your options on the Slim Pro.
The latter will also become the first Yoga device to come with AMD Ryzen processors. These tend to offer benefits for content creation and power consumption, but it’s worth sticking with Intel if gaming performance and overclocking are important to you. Both will be able to handle regular everyday usage without a problem.
All now come with a more widescreen 16:10 aspect ratio, as well as retaining Lenovo’s impressive 360-degree hinge.
The Yoga C740 currently sits in 7th place on ourbest laptop chartand scored an impressive 9/10 inour review, so we have high hopes for its successor.
Elsewhere, Lenovo also launched the Yoga 6, a rebranding of the Yoga C640. This 13.3in FHD device will also come with AMD Ryzen processors and the same options for up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. There’s also support for the Lenovo Digital Pen.
All the new additions to the Yoga line will be released in October 2020. UK pricing is yet to be confirmed.
