Live-action Hercules reboot to be produced by the Russo Brothers
Disney is expanding it’s live-action portfolio, and it’s the turn now of Hercules. This new film will be produced by the Russo Brothers – the two directors of Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War.
In addition, Dave Callaham is signed on to create the script. Callaham is a fellow member of the Marvel universe, having written Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, one of the movies lined up forMarvel phase four. He’s also previously written Wonder Woman 1984 and The Expendables.
The original animated film was released back in 1997, and was a musical comedy retelling of the Roman god and hero. However, there’s no guarantee that this version will be a musical too – the live-action version of Mulan will not feature any of the songs in the original Disney animated film.
The Hollywood Reporter statesthat the project is in its very early stages right now, and so lots of decisions have yet to have been made. This includes casting – no actors or actresses have been confirmed for any roles yet. We’re also not sure whether or not this will be a cinematic release, or aDisney Plus exclusive, like The Lady and the Tramp.
We imagine that the release date will be at least a few years down the line, especially with projectsnot being able to move forward due to COVID-19. In the meantime, why not check out some of thebest movies on Disney Plusto tired you over?
