Moleskine laptop bag and rucksack review

Expert’s Rating

Our Verdict

Moleskine’s Horizontal and Vertcial Device Bags live up to the quality we expect from the company’s stylish notebooks. Each laptop bag or rucksack is as minimal in size as it can be, so don’t expect to stuff them full of jumpers or bottle of wine from the shops, but they provide ample protection for your digital valuables, and that mark of classy quality the logo extols.

Moleskine are the purveyors of fine notebooks – not notebooks like laptops but proper, paper-based notebooks. Their trademark elastic closure has been copied so many times it’s odd to see a notebook without one.

Moleskinealso makes carrying bags for laptops, too. That pingy closure is there, too, so you can attach stuff to the outside as well as protect inside. See also:Best laptop bags.

Like the other Moleskine products these laptop bags are classy and understated. That discreet, silkscreened Moleskine logo is a badge of quality, and it’s not let down with these cases. Even the zip pullers feature the Moleskine name. We like the small size of the pullers – many laptop bags have large, jingly zip ends that are easy to find but clank while you walk.

We looked at two models: the Horizontal Device Bag (two sizes available for up to 13.3-inch laptops, and up to 15.4 inch; and in either grey or red); and the slim rucksack Vertical Device Bag (which fits up to 15.4-inch laptops, and also available in grey or red).

Each Moleskine bag features an adjustable and removable webbing shoulder strap, with metal hook and buckle, and a handy strap to fix the bag on your suitcase handle.

There’s a zipped front flap for quick access, plus front and back pockets with zipper.

The handles are nicely padded for comfort.

Inside the bags there is plenty of padding to protect your laptop, tablet and other precious devices. You should feel pretty secure that your devices are safe from everyday bangs and knocks, and maybe even a more violent collision.

The Horizontal Device Bag for devices up to 13.3” measures 35-x-27-x-8.5cm (13.75-x-10.75-x-.25 inches). The large version is39-x-29-x-8.5 (15.25- x-11.5-x-3.25 inches).

RRP for the Horizontal Moleskine laptop bag is from £79.99, but you can find the smaller model for around £50 onAmazon. In the US prices start at $99 onAmazon.com.

The Vertical Device Bag for devices up to 15,4 inches measures 29-x-39-x-8.5cm (11.5-x-15.25-x-3.25 inches).

RRP for the Vertical Moleskine laptop rucksack is £105, but you can find for around £70 onAmazon. In the US it is priced at $115 atAmazon.com.
