Motorola announces budget Moto G9 Play with a 5000mAh battery
The dust has barely settled on the Moto G8 line but Motorola has already announced the first member of the G9 series in the Moto G9 Play.
Those familiar with the most recent Moto G device will know that the ‘Play’ suffix places this handset at the lower end of the anticipated Moto G9 product family (although it just goes by the ‘Moto G9’ in India); despite this though, it still brings some promising hardware to the table.
The phone hopes to impress with standout inclusions like a large 5000mAh battery and a triple camera arrangement fronted by a 48Mp sensor, alongside a sizeable 6.5in 20:9 ‘Max Vision’ display.
Here’s the full spec rundown for the Moto G9 Play(/Moto G9):
Its strengths lie in that large screen, high-resolution primary camera (with pixel-binning) and huge battery – which Motorola says should last most users up to two days at a time. It’s also one of the first phones to tote Qualcomm’s lower-mid-range Snapdragon 662 chipset.
The other main talking point is the price, with the phone costing just £159 in the UK; available in the next 24 hours fromMotoroladirectly, as well as Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse, John Lewis, Argos and Amazon.
It looks to be a promising budget offering that we’ll have to pass judgement on once the phone has run our review gauntlet. Until then, take a look at ourBest Budget Phonesroundup for some suitable alternatives.
