New Assassin’s Creed could be one of the first big next-gen releases

A new Assassin’s Creed could be one of the first major games to be released on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, if the latest rumours are to be believed.

Both Sony and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles are due to be released in late 2020, and the latest developments suggests we won’t be waiting long for Activision to add to its action-adventure series.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the 11th game in the main series, was released in October 2018 to widespread praise. Fans of the series will hope the more capable consoles will take the game to the next level.

The release looks likely to form part of Ubisoft’s packed 2020/21 fiscal year, when five AAA games are set to be launched. The company has confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion, Gods & Monsters and Rainbow 6: Quarantine will be three of those.

Kotaku News Editor Jason Schreier has since indicated that a new Far Cry game will join Assassin’s Creed to complete the quintet.

Anyone holding out hope for Splinter Cell is, once again, going to be disappointed. Sorry! (It’s AC and Far Cry.)https://t.co/7hKDV3y5QS

We’re expecting many more games to be teased ahead of the launch of thePS5andXbox Series X. In the meantime, check out our round-up of thebest upcoming games.
