Nokia T20 tablet: Everything you need to know

As rumoured, the Nokia T20 made its debut as part of the brand’s October launch event. The third-ever tablet to sport the Nokia name, the second of them to run on Android and the first under HMD Global, the T20 has something to prove.

Prior to the T20, theNokia N1was released far back in 2014 and a year prior to that, theNokia Lumia 2520launched, running on Windows RT and boasting cellular connectivity.

With the T20, HMD Global appears to be taking the same approach as it has with the current crop of Nokia smartphones; focussing on upfront affordability, ease-of-use and long-term value.

When does the Nokia T20 tablet launch?

The Nokia Mobile Twitter account first teased the T20 (although not by name) on 20 September, and later on 27 September and 1 October, all of which alluded to the slate’s6 Octoberlaunch. HMD Global confirmed that the T20 would be available across various markets, including the UK, the US, Europe and Australia.

It would appear that HMD is also tying the T20’s arrival into the company’s current campaign with the latest James Bond movie,No Time To Die, which prior to numerous delays – as a result of the pandemic – was originally meant to coincide with the launch of last year’sNokia 8.3 5G(HMD has since reworked the existing ads to focus instead on its newest rugged phone, theNokia XR20).

How much is the Nokia T20 tablet?

While at least one online retailer had already leaked approximate UK pricing, official figures are a little lower than expected, positioning the T20 as a capable-looking affordable Android slate.

In the UK, bothWiFiand4G LTEvariants come with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, priced at £179.99 and £199.99, respectively (approximately INR₹18,290 and INR₹20,325), with pre-orders kicking off from 6 October and a ship date of11 October.

At the time of writing, the T20 isn’t yet on sale in the US but will be available direct fromNokia’s US siteas of17 November, starting at US$249.99, whileAustralianpricing is listed at AUD$349, with immediate availability.

European pricing varies by country, with the lowest being a starting price of €229, available fromNokia France, citing a ship date of15 October.

What features does the Nokia T20 offer?

The T20 was teased under the tagline of “Everything you’d expect from a Nokia phone in a tablet” and, on first impressions, the resultant offering seems to deliver on this promise pretty handily.

HMD Global has built and released a host of affordable Android phones running clean and easy-to-use user experiences, packing modest hardware and promisingmultiple years of OS and security updates, the Nokia T20 does too.

The T20 arrives running Android 11 (backed up by the promise of two years of OS and three years of monthly security updates), while software like Google Kids Space and Google Entertainment Space come pre-loaded, along with technologies such as Nokia OZO Audio to help augment the tablet’s media chops, which are punctuated by a 10.36in 2K display, stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Design highlights include a sandblasted aluminium body, toughened cover glass and IP52-certified ingress protection. To improve hardiness further, the T20 can also be paired with a rugged case or a rugged flip case and third-party screen protectors were spotted ahead of the tablet’s reveal too.
