BBC iPlayer reveals several streaming records broken under lockdown The BBC has revealed its iPlayer’s stream and download statistics during the UK’s lockdown period, with predictably record-breaking results. Sunday 10 May was the busiest day ever for the platform with 22.5 million streaming and download requests, part of the overall astonishing 927 million requests for content from the British public since lockdown began on 23 March – 61% higher than the same period in 2019....

Google ramps up phasing out of Play Music with YouTube Music migration Google has ramped up the phasing out of its Google Play Music service by adding more alerts and warning banners to the app, saying that users must migrate to YouTube Music.The latter was launched in 2018but has run alongside Play Music for two years despite being pegged as its successor (viaAndroid Police). YouTube Music is a Spotify and Apple Music competitor that offers some paid tiers that also include ad-free access to music videos and all other content on YouTube, including YouTube Originals....
