It’s been a while waiting for a follow-up to the brilliantXiaomi Pocophone F1, but the worth looks like it was worth it. The Poco X2 looks like it could be the best value smartphone of 2020 with an amazing set of specs for a modest price.
Poco X2 release date
If you don’t like waiting long fornew phonesthen there’s good news as the Poco X2 release date is11 February. The same day Samsung will announce theGalaxy S20 range.
Poco X2 price and where to buy
Unlike the Pocophone F1, the X2 is exclusive toFlipkartin India. It costs just₹15,999which converts to around £175 or $225.
That’s cheaper than the £329 F1, but we’re not sure if the phone will make it to markets other than India.
That starting price will get you a model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. You can then jump to 128GB storage for ₹16,999 and then a top spec of 8/256GB for ₹19,999.
Poco X2 specs and features
As the firm said ahead of the launch, the Poco X2 comes with a display refresh rate of 120Hz and as far as we’re aware, it’s the cheapest phone on the market to come with this tech. The OnePlus 8 is highly unlikely to be lower.
Rivals at 120Hz are namely high-end gaming phones like theAsus ROG Phone 2andRazer Phone 2.
The display is 6.67in and uses a Full HD+ resolution. It’s an LCD panel and has dual in-screen cameras similar to the Galaxy S10 Plus. They are 20- and 2Mp.
On the back is a quad camera array featuring a 64Mp Sony IMX686 sensor which offers an f/1.89 aperture. This is accompanied by 2Mp macro, 8Mp ultra-wide and 2Mp depth cameras.
Those are perhaps the highlights but the Poco X2 has other features such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G quad-core processor that’s liquid cooled and, as per the models listed above, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
It might not support 5G, but the X2 offers a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 4700mAh battery and 27W fast charging over USB-C. It also has Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The handset comes in three colours: Phoenix Red, Atlantis Blue, and Matrix Purple.
