Sonos Radio HD paid tier removes ads, adds features
After launching its own radio streaming service earlier this year, Sonos has announced a paid tier which offers high-definition quality audio and no adverts. It’s called Sonos Radio HD.
It was perhaps a little bit strange for Sonos not to launch both free and paid versions of Sonos Radio at launch, but the paid option is here for anyone keen to get rid of advertising and also listen in higher quality.
Sonos Radio HD costs £7.99/US$7.99 per monthafter a 30-day free trial, available in the UK and US to start with.
As well as freeing your ears from ads, Sonos Radio HD means a jump to lossless CD-quality audio (16-bit/44.1kHz) with skips and repeats. There are new stations including The Inner Now, Chill Beats and Mellow Morning.
Sonos Radio HD can even help you sleep with six sleep stations mastered by Sonos’ sound experience team and tunes forSonos speakers. They are white noise, pink noise, brown noise, rain, rainforest and piano.
Content isn’t restricted to playlists either with things like exclusive interviews staring with Dolly Parton’s Songteller Radio.
“Dolly’s first show, Songteller Special, will include more music and interviews heard nowhere else, airing on Songteller Radio and for listeners everywhere on Mixcloud.” said Sonos.
The firm also promises five new stations in early 2021. If you do stay on the free version of Sonos Radio then there’s still more being added with “expanded availability of Sonos Radio’s original content in five new countries starting November 12.”
However, you don’t get the higher quality, skips and repeats, or the exclusive stations. Read about the newSonos Upgrade Program.
