Star Wars Episode I: Racer port coming to PS4 and Switch

The classic N64 and PC (and Game Boy Color!) game Star Wars Episode I: Racer will bereleased on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on 12 May.

The game took the podrace sequence from The Phantom Menace, the first Star Wars film since 1983’s Return of the Jedi, and turned it into a whole game. It’s one of the better Star Wars video games in a turbulent history of the genre.

Game developer Aspyr is behind the project that also recently brought the oldJedi AcademyandJedi Outcastgames to PS4 and Switch.

Aspyr’s VP of publishing Elizabeth Howard said, “The beloved game has been modernized for the most optimal gaming experience on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Star Wars fans should get ready to steer their racer to victory and leave their opponents in the dust.”

The port will feature uprezzed FMV sequences, remapped controls, a new Trophies feature and more.

Racer will reportedly cost US$15 when it launches next month. With 25 playable characters and shot of nostalgia, it could prove a fun stay at home game during this time of pandemic lockdown.
