Super Mario Run News: Updates & discounts due this week
Super Mario Run was announced during last September’s iPhone 7 launch as the first mobile Mario game. Originally available as an App Store exclusive, on 23 March it also became available for Android. Since then Super Mario Run has seen a couple of updates, with the next big one due this Friday 29 September.
Nintendo promises a new world (World Star), new mode (Remix 10), new playable character (Daisy), and a half-price discount on the price of the full game between 29September and 12 October.
It’s finally happened; Mario is coming to your smartphone. “In the game, Mario runs forward on his own, but relies on the touch of a single finger to jump over obstacles, avoid pesky enemies and capture the flag pole to complete levels,” said Nintendo.

When is Super Mario Run coming to Android?
Super Mario Run became available to iPhone users on 15 December 2016, but didn’t become available for Android until 23 March 2017. You can download it now for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play store, but you’ll get only the first few levels free.
How much does Super Mario Run cost in the UK?
Super Mario Run is partially free, but you’ll need to pay to unlock the full game – the initial download comes with a limited amount of content.
The full version of Super Mario Run costs £9.99 in the UK and $9.99 in the US.
Nintendo executive Tatsumi Kimishima told investors that downloading Super Mario Run is free, though players will need to pay in order to “unlock all of the game’s content”. After paying the fee, players can continue playing “without worrying about additional fees”. Kimishima added that children can play Super Mario “with peace of mind” because of the pay structure.
