The Walking Dead ends in 2022 – but a new spin-off is happening
After over ten years of slaying zombies, The Walking Dead is finally coming to an end in 2022. However, the universe will continue to live on.
Deadline has reportedthat AMC has given the green light to a spin-off series starring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, who will continue to play their characters from the main show – Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier respectively. This will debut in 2023.
The eleventh – and final – season will last for an extended 24 episode run. Though it marks the end of the main story, writer and producer Scott M Gimple states that “this will be a grand finale that will lead to new premieres.”
The spin-off series is not the first show to come from The Walking Dead. Fear The Walking Dead will air its sixth season in October, whilst two other shows – The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Tales of the Walking Dead – are both in development. The former is due to premiere in October, whilst the latter is an anthology show that is still in the planning stages.
