Twitter said to be bringing ‘retweets with comments’ metric to app
Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature where it’ll display the number of retweets with comments as well as the number of overall retweets. It’ll also split these into a tabbed view, at least on the Android app.
The information comes from famed tech reverse engineerJane Manchun Wong, who (where else?) tweeted her findings:

Retweets with comments are newer ways of interacting with tweets and are very popular. At the moment, it’s easiest to view a tweet’s replies rather than all the specific interactions unless you’re the original tweeter. With this alleged changed, all viewers of the tweet would be able to tap to see the comments people retweeted with.
There appears also to be a tabbed view, found by Wong for the Android Twitter app, that lets you view retweets with and without comments.
It’s another small addition to the Twitter app that will surely improve it, despite that arguably Twitter has barely changed or added major features over the years. The fact that retweets with comments only launched in 2015 shows the platform’s hesitancy to evolve.
It expanded the maximum length of a tweet from 140 to 280 characters in 2017, eleven years after its initial launch.
