Which Marvel movies to watch before Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
We are just days away from the last Marvel movie of the year hitting cinemas. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the highly anticipated sequel to Black Panther. It will follow the Kingdom of Wakanda as they defend themselves against a new threat.
Lead actor of the 2018 film, Chadwick Boseman, tragically passed away in 2020. The movie has as such been written to reflect the loss of T’Challa on the community of Wakanda.

Which Marvel movies and series should I watch to understand Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
We have based list on previous trailers, as the film doesn’t release until11 November 2022.
These are the key films and shows you should watch to follow both T’Challa’s and Wakanda’s narrative up until now:
T’Challa is introduced in Captain America: Civil War. Whilst he’s not the main character in this film, it does set up his origin story for Black Panther – which is a must-see for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This movie introduces many familiar faces you’ll see in the sequel such as Shuri, Okoye, Ramonda, Nakia and M’Baku, and delves into the history of the land.
Wakanda is the battlefield for Avengers: Infinity War, as T’Challa lends his armies and technology to the Avengers in the hope of defeating Thanos. He, Shuri, Okoye and the Wakandan forces also played a huge part in the second battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame – the last live-action film that Chadwick Boseman appears in.
We’re unsure how important The Falcon and The Winter Solider is for context, but there is a possibility that it could tie in to the new film. In the series, the second-in-command of the Dora Milaje, Ayo, comes in part way through the series to arrest Barron Zemo and take him into custody in the raft.
At the end of the series, Ayo also advices that Bucky/White Wolf should make himself scarce in Wakanda. However, we don’t know if he heeds that advice. Therefore, we could possibly get some cameos from either Bucky or even Zemo in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
We haven’t included the animated seriesWhat If…?on this list, as that primarily deals with alternative plotlines in the Marvel universe. Of course, if you can’t get enough Marvel content, then Boseman does voice T’Challa in episode two.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the last film inPhase Four, so will no doubt set up some other future projects inPhase Five– one of which we know to beIronheartwith Riri Williams.
