Win a sewing lesson with The Great British Sewing Bee’s Patrick Grant

Lockdown has turned us into a nation of gardeners, bakers and most recently – sewers. At the same time that sewing machines are being brought out and dusted down, Series 6 of The Great British Sewing Bee has landed. Excellent timing, BBC2.

(If you missed it because you were baking bread or churning butter or braiding a terrifying corn dolly, you can catch upon iPlayer. And if you’re outside of the UK, you can readour article on how to watch programmes on iPlayer from your location.)

If you’ve seen it, you’ll know that not least among the programme’s attractions is judge Patrick Grant, director of the Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons. And now, Singer Sewing Machines is running a draw to win a sewing lesson with the man in the very sharp suit. Who wouldn’t be up for that?

One way to enter the competition is by purchasing a Singer sewing machine from an authorised retailer until July 31st. You simplyfill out an entry form on the Singer siteand cross your fingers.

There will be two lessons with the tailor, each with seven available places. At the moment, the lessons are slated for September 11th, 2020, but may be rescheduled depending on advice from Public Health England closer to the time.

The winners will get the chance to customise a garment or accessory with the help of Singer sewing experts. Patrick will be on hand to chat and advise and at the each of each session, he’ll give his thoughts on the creations.

One participant in each session can also bring along a friend or family member from another generation to work with them on their project. This is part of Singer’s commitment to passing on a love of sewing from generation to generation (which is really very sweet).
