Xiaomi UK Launch Event Live Stream: New Scooters & Phones

The Mi Electric Scooter Essential, Mi Electric Scooter 1S, Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2, Mi 10 and Redmi Note 9 will be highlights of Xiaomi’s UK launch event on Friday 28 August.

These products have already launched elsewhere in the world, so we already know what to expect from them in terms of design, specifications and features. We’ll get another look nevertheless.

However, Xiaomi will also reveal new information regarding UK pricing and availability – in essence, when we can get our hands on the gadgets without having to import them, and for how much.

Mi 10andRedmi Note 9are already available SIM-free from theUK Mi StoreandAmazon, so we expect for the phones the news will be more focused on contract availability.

Theelectric scooter launchesare arguably more exciting, given that we’ve recently seen moves from the UK government towardlegalising the use of electric scooters on public landas it advises people against using public transport.

The ongoing trials of rental models have potential to finally bring us Brits into line with other European countries where electric scooters are already incredibly popular.

For now, you can use a personal electric scooter only on private land in the UK. But, regardless of their legality, you’ll have noticed that electric scooters are becoming more prevalent in the UK.

The vast majority of models you’ll see on UK roads (or in ourbest electric scootersround-up) are copycat versions of theXiaomi M365 Electric Scooter. That model, though still one of our faves, is getting old, so it’s about time Xiaomi updated the line.

When and where to watch the Xiaomi UK launch event

At12.30pm BSTonFriday 28 Augustyou’ll be able to tune into a live stream of the Xiaomi electric scooter and phone UK launch event.

This stream will be available on Xiaomi’sTwitterandFacebookchannels.

Following the announcements we’ll be updating our coverage of these products with full UK pricing and availability.
